This lovely bride and groom had to head off straight after their Brydon Room Wedding Ceremony, so we decided to meet a little early for our wedding portraits.

And what a lovely, bright, sunny Spring day it was. We shot a few portraits in the Chelsea streets and the went to the park for a bit of colour by way of these lovely pink tulips.

From there it was only a short walk to Chelsea Register Office, for Emma and Andrew’s civil wedding ceremony in the Brydon Room. The Brydon Room is my favourite room at Chelsea Register Office, as the sunny golden yellow walls brighten up even the glummest day. Not that there was any need for that on this lovely spring afternoon.

The ceremony was full of joy and laughter, after which it was time for the traditional confetti throw on the Chelsea Register Office steps.

The couple had lined up a classic red London Routemaster bus to take them to their wedding reception, and so we got a couple of quick shots with the bus as well. All in all it was a lovely afternoon, and I wish them both all the very best for a happy life together.

With the weather turning all wintery outside, and our thoughts turning to Christmas, I thought it would be nice to bring a little sunshine to the blog with some Spring Wedding Photography at Mayfair Library from earlier on this year.

Chinese couple Carolyn and Norman will have a much bigger wedding in China later, but for now, the two chose Mayfair Library as the venue for their Spring Wedding and I was delighted to be there to provide the photography. The wedding took place in the most intimate circle, with only the bride’s father having flown in from China and the couple’s closest friend acting as witness.

The ceremony brought a couple of linguistic misunderstanding, resulting in much laughter and a joyous morning.  After that, we headed out into the nearby gardens where Spring had fully sprung and we were surrounded by pink tulips and cherry blossom. Nothing lifts the heart like bright Spring colours on a wedding day. And of course, we couldn’t ignore such a classic London icon as the red telephone box as a backdrop for some of our wedding portraits.

And here’s a selection of what we shot on the day. Many congratulations to this Chinese bride and groom – Carolyn and Norman!

Laura and Mark’s Spring Wedding in Chelsea took place in the Brydon Room of Chelsea Register Office earlier this year. It’s my favourite room, as it has the best light coming in of any of the Chelsea Register Office ceremonial rooms, and the walls are a lovely golden colour to give some warmth the people’s skin tones.

The ceremony was set for late afternoon, and this bride and groom wanted an absolute minimum of formal photographs – they wanted to keep everything nice and relaxed and natural, which is always completely fine with me. So after the traditional confetti throw on the Chelsea Register Office steps, we took advantage of the gorgeous, low, late afternoon Spring sunlight to get some portraits in the nearby park, where the sun was just low enough to bounce of the bride’s golden hair. I love that sort of light.

By the time we finished the sun was setting, and so I was able to get this lovely photograph with the bride and groom’s long shadow as they walk away, quite literally, into the sunset.

May the sun set on many happy days for Laura and Mark – congratulations to them both!

Time to head back to King’s Road, this time for the Chelsea Register Office Wedding Photography of Sally and Jeremy. The couple have been together for many years and have 3 gorgeous daughters, twins Freya and Flora, and the eldest Lana (what lovely names!). It was a gorgeous Spring morning when we headed into Chelsea’s Rossetti Room for the Civil Ceremony.

Tom-boy twin Flora was “Best Man” and ring bearer for the ceremony. A great responsibility!

After the main part of the ceremony and the couple’s official “First Kiss”, it was twin Freya’s turn do take care of the reading. She did a magnificent job.

Then the final part of the ceremony – the signing of the register by the wedding couple and their witnesses.

And of course, no Chelsea Town Hall wedding ceremony is complete without a big confetti throw on the steps of the Old Town Hall.

Then it was time for our couples portraits. Sally and Jeremy do not live in London and wanted their photographs to capture the fact that they were here… so we took to the streets of Chelsea.

Things don’t get much more “London” than a big double decker bus.

Here are a few portraits I took of the girls before the ceremony – the sun was out fully then, which is why the light is a bit different from the portraits of Flora and Dad. It goes to show what a big difference the time of day makes in terms of photography, not just in waht type of weather there is, but also in terms of the “colour” of ambient light around us.

Eltham Palace Wedding Photography with Bridal Preparations at Rowhill Grange.

We couldn’t have asked for a more glorious day for Amy and David’s wedding at Eltham Palace. I’ve really been looking forward to this day. Amy and David were a pleasure to work with during their pre-wedding photoshoot in Battersea Park earlier in the year, and Eltham Palace is one of my favourite venues in London. The combination of old style architecture and Courtauld family’s Art Deco additions make for the most amazing setting.

But first to the bridal preparations at Rowhill Grange in Kent, where Amy was getting ready with her bridesmaids:

Amy’s dress, jewelry and hairstyle, matched perfectly with style and feel of the venue we were soon to head off to.

After the portraits it was time to head over to Eltham Palace..

The formalities done with, we then spend some time exploring the gorgeous grounds and building for the couple’s wedding portraits.

In the meantime, the guests were enjoying the glorious sunshine on the palace lawn.

Then it was time for the wedding breakfast.

Emotional speeches were followed by the First Dance, and then it was time for me to head off home.
