With all the bad weather we’ve been having, it’s not surprising that eventually, one of my weddings would be caught out by the rain – and this was certainly that day. Nonetheless, it was dry for the bride’s arrival at Chelsea Register Office, and the bus with the “Lay the favourite” sign going past made me laugh (“Lay” means “to bet on”). Bernard was definitely betting on his favourite today!
Very shortly after the ceremony the rain started to come down, and as Shannon was naturally protective over her dress, we took the gorgeous Roll’s Royce to the nearest covered area we could find, which was the front of St. Luke’s Church. But we weren’t allowed to stay here for long, so back in the car we went, on to the final venue, Beaufort House on King’s Road, where we used their beautiful rich and velvety interiors for the rest of our portraits.
Then it was time for Shannon and Bernard to start mingling with their guests ahead of their wedding breakfast, and time for me to leave.
Shannon and Bernard have now returned to California, where I wish them a long and happy life together!
