Well here’s something you don’t see every day: A horse-drawn wedding carriage in Chelsea!
The bride and groom had told me in advance of the day that they were considering hiring a wedding carriage for the special day at Chelsea Register Office, but I have to say, seeing a beautiful carriage like that, pulled by two huge greys, is a sight to behold. It’s not the first time I’ve had a wedding which featured a horse-drawn carriage, but that’s always been at sprawling country wedding venue – not in the middle of the King’s Road in Chelsea!
But first, let’s talk about the big event – Mengke and Xiang’s wedding ceremony in the Rossetti Room at Chelsea Register Office, witnessed by their closest friends. Mengke wore a lovely red two-piece suit, red being considered a lucky colour in Chinese culture. The ceremony was short and sweet, and was followed by the traditional confetti throw on the Chelsea Register Office steps, and then, there it was. Much to the surprise of the guests, the horse and carriage were waiting to take the wedding party on to their afternoon tea celebration.
The guests sat in the main cab for the journey, whilst the bride and groom rode up high with the “driver”, to enjoy the view. What a sight in the middle of London traffic!
Many congratulations to Mengke and Xiang!
