There are so many images to choose from Kannan and Louise’s Hindu ceremony, I’ve decided to split the post into two parts – one for the ceremony and one for the portraits. And even then, this is still one of my longest ever posts – but I just couldn’t think of anything to take out.
The couple had a super early start and I arrived at 7am to photograph bride Louise being prepared for the first part of the ceremony.
The men had the good sense to stay well out of the way whilst the ladies were getting ready.
Whilst the ladies were relaxing in the changing room, the groom’s parents lit the candles upstairs and the groom’s female relatives awaited his arrival.
Then it was time for the bride’s first arrival, in her pre-wedding sari.
After Kannan handed Louise the new red and gold wedding sari, she had to go off and get changed as quickly as possible, to re-enter the room with her family for the final part of the ceremony.
After the ceremony, all the guests lined up to congratulate and bless the couple and to throw grains of rice over their heads.
Once the long procession of guests had passed the celebrations were over, and the newlyweds and I headed over to the nearby temple for our wedding portraits… part II to follow soon.
Feel free to leave a comment for Kannan and Louise to wish them well.
