I get so excited whenever I get booked to provide the wedding photography at Royal Holloway University. It is my favourite wedding venue in Surrey and one my favourite all time wedding venues, period! Such a stunning location, both inside and out, the staff are excellent and efficient, and the food is delicious.
And so to the wedding of Emma and David, whose wedding took place in the truly stunning Royal Holloway University Chapel (a first for me), with their wedding breakfast being held in the gorgeous portrait gallery. It was a day of firsts for me as I had not had the privilege to photograph a ceremony in the University Chapel before, I had never seen a vicar make a toilet roll the focus of their wedding sermon (it made sense if you were there 🙂 ), and I also have never had a couple have their wedding speeches outside in the quadrant before. This was an EXCELLENT idea! I wish more speeches took place outdoors in natural light, giving lots more photographic opportunity than speeches made from the top table only. (you can already tell this is going to be a long post!)
One of the guests played a bugle solo to call guests to the speeches and it was lovely. The Picture Gallery, as always looked stunning, bathed in natural light, but the goldfish as table decorations were a new one on me – and probably on THEM too!
But we start at The Runnymede Hotel, another popular local wedding venue which is just up the road and the location for the bride’s preparation. Bride Emma had her hair professionally done, but chose to do her own makeup. The dress was a stunning Caroline Castigliano lace dress with shoes by Jimmy Choo.
The service at The Royal Holloway University Chapel was warm and humerous and the whole day was high on emotion. After the ceremony I whisked the couple away to a quiet part of the Quadrant for their wedding portraits. Then it was time for the drinks reception followed be the aforementioned outdoor speeches. Then it was time for the couple and their guests to sit down for their wedding breakfast.
Many congratulations to Emma and David and best wishes for a wonderful future together.
