THE END OF AN ERA
More than twenty years ago I decided to leave the security of a lucrative City career to follow my passion for photography and risk the uncertainty of turning of hobby into a full-time job.
It was a huge leap of faith, and I had no real idea of what life as a professional photographer would look like.
It’s almost impossible to convey what a joy and privilege it has been to be a part of my clients’ most meaningful celebrations, sharing their happiest days, and providing them with tangible mementos of those times to treasure forever.
There is nothing like the feeling of visiting a client’s home for a family photo session years after their wedding and seeing your photographs displayed all over their home, being part of their family’s story.
There is a flip side: insanely long hours, the financial insecurity of freelance work, working every weekend, missing your own family events, and the constant pressure knowing that you only have one chance to get it right, every time.
This is not a complaint, it’s the true nature of the job. I have zero regrets.
All these years later, I still love photography, I still love watching people, capturing their joy for them, leaving a small footprint on their life stories, but I no longer love the job’s stress and physical demands.
So the time has come for me to retire, hang up my cameras and move on to the next chapter in my life.
I’m so grateful to my lovely clients for placing their trust in me over so many years.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you and that’s all from me.
