For Liz and Sean’s intimate Chelsea wedding, I was booked to start with the bridal preparations at the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge, one of the most luxurious hotels in London.
Usually when planning to have photographic coverage for bridal preparations, we arrange the timing so that I arrive in time for the end of the makeup being applied, before the bride starts to get dressed. In this case, all the hair and makeup was already complete when I arrived, but I still had a chance to photograph the wonderfully glamorous details of Liz’s wedding outfit, including her stunningly simple lace Valentino wedding dress, silver Jimmy Choos and Bottega Veneta handbag. It was a wedding fashion blogger’s dream! And the dress was an absolutely perfect fit, as you would expect from some a classic label.
It was a very sunny morning, and once the dress was on, our bride was starting to get quite hot – so what better way to cool down than with a couple of glasses of champagne for her close friends, before getting into a gorgeous vintage Rolls Royce for the short, selfie-tastic journey to Chelsea Register Office, where groom Sean was ready and waiting for his bride.
The ceremony was short and sweet as usual, and so we headed outside for what was going to be an ENORMOUS confetti throw. One of the couple’s guests had brought a confetti canon, and I couldn’t wait to see how that would look – alas, the canon refused to fire, so our confetti throw ended up being a slightly more modest affair :-).
We then headed off for our informal portraits, accompanied by the groom’s son as official “flower assistant”. Being a little short of time by now, we only managed one location for our portraits, but we still managed to get a little romance going.
