Old Marylebone Town Hall was an obvious choice for the intimate Soho Room wedding ceremony of Mulu and Lenko, who met when studying for their MBAs with London Business School, which has a base in the building.
The adorable Chinese Mulu and Bulgarian Lenko just make you feel joyous. They’re so happy you want to squeeze and hug them and share their laughter.
Mulu and Lenko had six guests in the Soho Room, which seats up to 14, with another six standing. The room has bone coloured walls and green curtains, a beautiful feature fireplace and dark blue sofa. Those gorgeous colours can affect guests’ skin tones, so I used a little flash to brighten the wedding photos.
Mulu and Lenko were interviewed before their ceremony in the wood-panelled Marylebone Room, where the mother of the groom snuck in to give the bride a quick hug before the start of the ceremony.
During the early stage of dating, the numbers 7 and 9 took on special significance for them, with 7 denoting “Perfection” and 9, standing for “forever”. So much so, that after their first date, Lenko sent Mulu 79 roses!! HOW romantic is that?? My heart melted when I heard that story. Obviously, the numbers 7 and 9 had to be part of the proceedings and two helium balloons kept watch over our couple as they took their vows.
Mulu and Lenko are also celebrating a 4 month old bump, so we featured this in their portraits too.
It was such a pleasure to photograph this Soho Room wedding ceremony. Everyone was smiling from ear to ear throughout apart from a couple of happy tears that escaped Mulu’s eyes during the vows. Even editing the photos, I just look at them and think “squeee”. Apologies if that sounds rather girlie, but that’s just how they made me feel. I can’t wait for them to see their wedding photos once I have edited them all.
I wish them both all the happiness in the world together, and I can’t wait to hear about the arrival of the bump. (I know what it is, but have been sworn to secrecy. Shhhhhhhh…).
