It’s been so grim outside for such a long time, I thought it’s time I added a bit of colour and sunshine back into the blog, with this bright and colourful Asian Summer Wedding at Chelsea Register Office.
I have photographed a number of Asian weddings before, some of them huge, with 100s of people in big country venues. But big or small, the lovely thing they all have in common is how beautifully colourful everyone’s outfits are. You can’t help but feel cheerful when you see these lovely garments. And when the sun then decide to shine as well… bonus!
And so it was the day that Aashika and Sanjeet tied the knot in the Rossetti Room at Chelsea Register Office. They were accompanied by just their parents and immediate family. The ceremony was super quick, as the couple did not exchange rings. But whilst this was obviously a civil wedding ceremony, the bride and groom’s parents were not going to go without celebrating a classic Asian wedding tradition, which is to feed cake to both the bride and groom. Each parent offers the food first to their new child-in-law, and then to their own off-spring. I love food, and I love cake, so I’m all for it!
After we took some classic family portrait photographs, Aashika, Sanjeet and I then snuck off for just a short time to capture some lovely intimate couples wedding portraits. We didn’t have a lot of time left by this point, but we still managed to get some lovely shots. Enjoy.
